Common Carpet Stains from Kids

Your children provide so much joy to your house. Unfortunately, they can also bring a lot of mess. It does not matter how hard you protect your carpet. If you’ve got kids, spills are bound to happen sooner or later. Whether you’ve got a teen who loves to juggle his snacks and soda or an infant who is learning to use a sippy cup, you know that spills can occur.

Luckily, if you know what to do, you can easily remove even the most stubborn carpet stains. Today, we’re going to share with you some carpet and fine area rug cleaning tips for common carpet stains caused by kids.

Vomit and Blood

Skinned elbows and knees can lead to bloody scrapes. Luckily, you can get rid of blood safely without too much hassle if it ends up on your rug or carpet. This can also be applied to vomit. However, when cleaning up these messes, there is a major difference to remember.

You can utilize mild dish soap and water to clean up vomit and blood from the carpet. However, there’s one thing to keep in mind. When you want to remove vomit, use warm water. If you want to remove blood, use cold water. If you act fast, you’ll have higher possibilities of removing the whole stain before it sets in.

Ink and Markers

If your kid wants to be an artist and has gotten an ink or marker on your rug while perfecting his/her art, you can save it from permanent damage using a couple of common items you can find in your house.

When it comes to getting rid of marker and ink stains from the rug and carpet, your friend is rubbing alcohol. Again, you’ve got to act as soon as possible. Apply alcohol to the affected area. Leave it for a couple of minutes. Next, utilize a clean towel and water to blot up the ink stain.

Soda and Colored Juice Drinks

Colas and red fruit juice drinks can leave stubborn stains on your rug and carpet. This is the main reason why you shouldn’t allow your kids to bring their drinks in a carpeted area. Unfortunately, kids can be quite stubborn. They’ll end up spilling their drinks over your expensive white carpet. However, you should not worry. If you act as soon as possible, you can easily fix the issue.

First, you will want to get rid of as much of the liquid as possible to get the red stain out of the carpet. You can do this by using a clean towel and blotting the spill. Do not rub the stain. Simply blot to get rid of as much moisture as possible. Next, apply a combination of water, mild soap, and white vinegar through a spray bottle. Allow the mixture to sit for a couple of minutes. Lastly, blot the spot again and dry it using a clean and fresh towel.

If you think that you’re too late to remove the stain, you can hire a professional carpet and rug cleaning company for help.
